Lightning Bolt in europe called for entries to design some stuff for them – I gave it a go on Sunday.

Did a couple of typography work ups for the cover and headline story page of the next Curl Magazine – think they’re going to go with the top one, but we’ll just have to wait’n'see – my preference would be for the bottom, but perhaps it looses a bit of readability especially on the cover…

So I started doing a type treatment but then got completely in the wrong direction and created this horror-esc type – got a bit excited by it, really want to get it to a full font…. soon hopefully.

Stoo over at Velvet Espresso asked me to change the mural I did for his cafe in Whangamata (Equation espresso) into a teeshirt and branded Velvet – heres a couple of mocksups for him.

Well its been a long time between drinks – have been flat tack on a huge project that I’ll put up soon but for now heres something I’ve been pottering on for a bit – its a take-away cup design for my friend stoo over at velvet espresso. I’m feeling it, heres hoping he does.

coming together

So based on the piece of typography I did for Curl Magazine wallpaper of Laura Enever I’ve fleshed out the font to a full uppercase set. Might offer it up soon when I’m more happy with it.

And heres a more finished piece.

Friday evening before heading home playing round – work in progress, hopefully finish it up this weeekend.
And a nice chilled song by Zero 7, perfect for a first drink on a friday night. (again picked up from over at RCRD LBL)

So named because it was a crazy project for me to even think about doing and then I found myself doing it… Vectoring – with the intent of converting it to a font – a crazy old alphabet I found …. got to N, haven’t touched it in a while, finish it by years end… who knows!
Need some madness to get back into it much like:

Part of today was spent designing this – its going to be a 2m x 2m corflute print for use at Mata Wananga – Te Wananga o Aotearoas huge annual staff meeting.
Also, just for fun gonna put up track of the days on here – first one is Morgan Page – Fight for You (which I got over at RCRD LBL)

Also today I’ve been continuing doing more Stair Casings posters (along the lines of this one) for various departments of the Wananga. Looking forward to seeings these printed.

So part of today was used to develop the ‘Health and Safety’ brand for the department of the same name within Te Wananga o Aotearoa. I used a cross with a maori twist not mad happy with the colours but the client loves them and its a huge step in the right direction from what they got me to do initially – which involved Yellow, Green and Blue! mmmm

Been pretty flat out working on the Prospectus for 2010, heres the cover based on a piece of artwork the CEO wanted used, turned out pretty nice.

New illustration – work in progress.

Todays most interesting thing was laying up this A3-folded-to-A4 brochure for the IT department at TWOA. Its an information booklet for students to log into and use there mail.

Heres the cover and a couple of spreads of what I’ve laid up (almost) a 26 page A5 booklet today. Its an introduction booklet to new students at Te Wananga o Aotearoa, very basic – following the brand guidelines. Still a work in progress but thats been my day thus far.

This is one of 5 posters (800×600) displaying the ‘stair-casing’ of programmes available at Te Wananga o Aotearoa. The brief was to base it around the idea/design of a ‘Poutama’, I used a bit of creative licence on that and adapted it to display in a more flowing manner.
